Reasonable Hotel in Mactan

Postby tats47 » Sun Dec 29, 2013 9:51 pm

Can you recommend a cheap but clean hotel in Mactan near Shangri-la?

I will be in Shangri-la for a presentation on January 9 & 11, 2014 but staying there can not be afforded.

Anybody familiar with Express Inn in Lapu-lapu?

Thanks guys and Happy New Year to all.

Reasonable Hotel in Mactan

What's your budget? Express Inn is in Pajo, Lapu Lapu which isn't walking distance or anything to anywhere. No beach, no city. If you're just presenting for those two days and can't afford to stay in a beach hotel (not Shangrila), my suggestion is to just stay in Cebu City where it's more convenient. You can always go to Shangrila on the 9th and 11th.

Hi Tats,

Have you checked out Island Stays? Its right near the airport. Kinda similar with Tune hotels or Go hotels. And there's Zubuchon in the lobby, unless your tired of lechon by now. At least its before Sinulog, otherwise, you'll have a hard time finding any room.

Peace

It will all come down to transportation availability.

Shang Mactan is hard to get to if you don't have your own ride and taxi costs will be high and hard to find regardless of the taxi law. Understandably so because of the lack f fare coming back.

If you don't have a ride my suggestion is to check if the Shang shuttle schedules fit your timetable (going and coming back, The going to Shang might be a bit late for a conference). If it does, pay the P200 for the shuttle and stay in the Islands Hotel (good recommendation Dave) near Ayala/Cebu Business Park. That way who have access for things to do and places to eat at night/early morning.

If you have a ride, stay in that Islands hotel near the airport. You can still stay there if you're just cabbing it to save time going to Shang. Fare should be about P150 going but headed back out in a taxi can be a crap shoot. Its just that you won't have much to do near the airport at night, unless you enjoy the drop coun karaoke joints where you could get mugged at 1am.
